Trump said we got the remains of our soldiers a few weeks ago. It would be imperialistic and war-mongering to say he lied about that and then the NKs didn’t even show up to a planned meeting about it so I won’t.

^ hung up? No. But anyone with a brain knew Trump oversold things to the point of absurdity. And to point that out was meant with some really weird and harsh criticisms from some circles.

https://www.npr.org/2018/12/19/675390104/open-scientific-collaboration-may-be-helping-north-korea-cheat-nuclear-sanctions

Quote :
"Now, new research shared exclusively with NPR shows one way the North may have been able to develop these technologies despite the global blockade. An analysis published Wednesday by the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey of North Korean studies in scientific journals suggests Pyongyang is circumventing the sanctions regime through open research collaborations with other countries.

Of the 1,304 papers they analyzed, about half, researchers believe, could have direct or indirect military applications. About 100 are "of concern" — meaning they need a close look. Most of the papers, 913 in total, are collaborations with Chinese scientists. A small fraction of those papers include additional co-authors of other nationalities."

Remember, if you are skeptical about Trumps claims coming out of this summit you are an imperialist warmonger who hates peace.

I, for one, thought for sure the guy who failed as a businessman and only is well known still because he was a celebrity was going to solve this and not come away looking a feckless tool.

"North Korea has labeled Joe Biden a "fool of low IQ" and an "imbecile bereft of elementary quality as a human being" after the U.S. presidential hopeful called North Korean leader Kim Jong Un a tyrant during a recent speech.

Pyongyang's official Korean Central News Agency on Wednesday said the former American vice president had insulted the country's supreme leadership and committed an "intolerable and serious politically-motivated provocation" against the North.

Biden during a campaign launch in Philadelphia on Saturday accused President Donald Trump of cozying up to "dictators and tyrants" like Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"What he uttered is just sophism of an imbecile bereft of elementary quality as a human being, let alone a politician," KCNA said."

I have no issues with this. Yes, it’s a dumb photo op borne out of his narcissism but as long as we can run out the Trump clock without a catastrophe on the Korean Peninsula we can get an adult in there to conduct real diplomacy.

^ it’s better than threats of war

But it basically puts us several steps closer to accepting NK as a sovereign nuclear state.

Tucker Carlson, Jared, and Ivanka at the negotiations with Kim jung Un

This could not be less assuring... this seems really embarrassing for the country.

I know sometimes eccentric people do weird things that end up working out.

But this seems like trump has no concept of what’s required... who takes their children and sycophantic friend to make some of the most important foreign policy talks with a global impact? How is South Korea letting this happen?

How is trump still having meetings with Putin and no one knows what they’re talking about?

Edit: I don’t think trump is eccentric, he’s clearly just an idiot, but I’m trying to be charitable

Every member of the political establishment wants war or total capitulation so they aren't going to be of any help in negotiations. This is why its gone on for so long. You had to use outsiders. Even if it was Dennis Rodman. You could probably solve most of the world's major problems by simply involving real people instead of the same politicians who have failed repeatedly for several decades.

South Korea is moderate now. They've wanted to warm relations with the North for a long time but the US has actually been in the way with its ridiculously unreasonable demands. The war mongers lost control over the country a long time ago and Moon was elected on the premise that he would normalize relations with the north. They want peace. Everyone wants peace except the American establishment.

This NYT reported deal of eliminating sanctions and recognizing NK as a nuclear state in exchange for a development freeze would be fair and a win for everyone except the military industrial complex. A potential legacy achievement for Trump.

NK also put out some statement about the SK president clinching his butthole everytime a hunting rifle goes off in the North... but I can't immediately find that.
