haha they've already been introduced to the better style. they're just not about that vinegar based life like we are. it would be like moving to Kansas City and being unable to find any place like the Pit or Smithfields 12/24/2012 11:46:55 AM |

You can get eastern nc BBQ in Kansas City, yet you can't find kc BBQ here.
The more ubiquitous the BBQ the better it is, no? 12/24/2012 3:15:18 PM |

^^ it's ACTUAL barbecue where you actually have a barbecue sauce instead of pouring cat piss on a bunch of pork.

Yes. Which is why pretty much the rest of the country uses tomato-based sauce instead of vinegar.12/25/2012 5:39:09 PM |

Smokey's in Morrisville should be close to what you're looking for. I've always enjoyed it thoroughly. 12/25/2012 8:36:50 PM |

Red Hot & Blue (Falls of the Neuse near Raleighwood Cinema Grill) is a Memphis style chain. There's also some good smokehouses nearby that might be more what you are looking for: Prime Smokehouse (Rock Quarry Rd.), Aviator Smokehouse (downtown Fuquay), Carolina Smokehouse Grill and Fire Pit BBQ (both in Wake Forest). Charlie's in the Cleveland community (near Clayton / Willow Spring) also is a little different but more like bbq you would get in Rowan county than KC. Also, there's the Big Al's food truck which also has a joint in Youngsville. Those are all good options if you want something other than eastern style NC barbecue. Of course if you want good eastern style, some other good ones in the area besides the Pit are Stephensons (on highway 50 near McGee's Xroads), Coopers (downtown), Back Yard BBQ Pit (Durham hwy 55 right right off I40 exit 278) and Allen & Son (hwy 86 in Chapel Hill). 1/11/2013 11:32:27 PM |
