Rciky Bobby now campaign take place in North Carolina.

NC is not the only state big on nascar or swing elections.

Maybe its just easier to do than georgia miss alabama tennessee kentucky wvu becuase its still got the laughable qualities of the south but you can have people with hollywood accents (lack of thick, and specific southern accents) in the movie and still be realistic?

And, for the most part, these are accurate depictions of places in North Carolina.

I saw a Family Guy episode where they had a scene in Raleigh with a toothless farmer and all that. It was confusing.

will ferrells has family here in NC. specifically when Cary High School won the state wrestling championship he wore a beenie with CARY on it, onto the tonight show. So his cousin was on the team that won.

galifinakis is from Wilkes county, and he/his family has a farm where I grew up in Alleghany.

[Edited on January 2, 2013 at 12:17 AM. Reason : His character Seth galifinakis (persona used in the campaign) has an accent you hear all the time]

Also generally his movies about NC are not insulting to NC but rather just about really dumb people who live in NC.

The Campaign and Talledega Nights are no more insulting to NC than Anchorman is to San Diego

Isn't that the main reason to make fun of a place?

pretty sure his nephew was on the wrestling team, not his cousin.

A buddy of mine ate dinner with him once. Said he acts exactly the same in real life as he does on camera haha.

This is kinda off topic (I was reminded by the Family Guy comment above) but I've realized since moving that people are ignorant as fuck about the south. I moved to NYC back in August and I get one of three reactions when I tell people I'm from NC:

1: The response from younger people/hipsters
Them: Oh, cool! Are you from Asheville?
Me: No, I'm from Raleigh.
Them: Cool! Is that near Asheville?

2: The people who have actually been here
Them: Oh, awesome! NC is great!

3: The people who haven't been here
Them: OMG Are you racist? (yes, this is literally what one person said to me although the others were very similar)

If someone asked me if I was a racist. I'd say yes I hate white people (I'm white). To see their face.

What the hell kind of question is that? Most people who are actually racist will tell you openly, without being asked, in my experience. They blame it on their family, or something like that.

I live in Hoboken and work in Manhattan. I've never had any problems with anyone having incorrect perceptions of NC or the south. The things they make fun of are the same things I made fun of when I lived there. Like how most of NC voted for an amendment to ban gay marriage.

The only other time that North Carolina is mentioned on Family Guy is when the Griffins are driving through the state and there are signs greeting them at the border that say "Welcome to North Carolina" and "First in Flight, 48th in Education"

i always get "oh you went to nc state?? go gamecocks!!"

about a month ago i had a full conversation with an old man about college football, i told him i went to the fsu game when i went home and how much fun that was blah blah blah. he is talking about how great of a football season we were having. then he started talking about what a great coach spurrier is. i was like no one knows who nc state is.

also "parking deck" is apparently a phrase only used in NC and maybe a few other places in the south. i once told my coworkers that i was parked in the parking deck and they all looked at me like i was crazy.

Here is some more info about Ferrell's background, specifically about Roanoke Rapids and Halifax/Northampton County:

http://hamptonroads.com/node/179921

Quote :
"To add to his down-to-earth credentials, he can tell you all about places like Rich Square, Seaboard, Halifax, Jackson and Gaston. They’re crossroads towns in eastern North Carolina, not far across the Virginia line. Ferrell knows all about them because when he was a boy, his mother took him back to her hometown, Roanoke Rapids, N.C., for summer visits.

Ferrell’s parents are natives of Roanoke Rapids, where they met in the second grade. Mom became a schoolteacher, and Dad was a musician with the Righteous Brothers, so he was on tour a good deal of the time. They moved to Irvine, Calif., in 1964, where Will and his brother were born, but their parents divorced when the boys were young. Yet, the star said, “I’ve been visiting North Carolina since I was 8 months old.” "

Also, here is a hat he was sporting in 2010 at the NBA Playoffs.

Holla at Ralph's BBQ.
