Why inconvenience all these people when they could just fly the dog to AL for a couple hundred dollars?

^ You could email the transport coordinator and find out. They actually transport many animals most often from kill or high kill shelters to fosters, no-kill shelters, breed-specific rescues, and permanent homes. To transport one would be a couple of hundred dollars (maybe) but to transport all would not be financially possible with the resources they have. But people don't mind taking a couple hours each and transporting the animals.

Aren't you handicapped or disabled? You're more of an inconvenience for other people than any cat or dog...just sayin'

I'm so glad to see that the sending and receiving families are really working hard by only driving an hour.

That's what I was thinking, too. If they don't care any more than that, just give him away...

I don't know why they set it up that way but they do. Usually it's one or more dogs/cats going from either a foster home to a permanent home or a shelter to a rescue or foster. They've always done ~1 hour legs.

The sending/receiving families may have been able to do more but the schedule worked out like it did. The important thing is the dog didn't wind up in a shelter or ditched somewhere.

If they actually cared about the dog they would have paid the $200 to send it Delta Dash. Now the dog will be traumatized with days of being handed off to strangers. I can't tell you how many stories I have heard of dogs being stolen or running away while transported in this manner. I passionately hate Delta, but they have figured out how to get dogs safely from airport to airport because they deal with a lot of high dollar animals (show dogs and police/military prospects).
