I had my father in law look at it and give me the thumbs up...

What's the best way to do the transaction and have it shipped down?

while I've bought cars at a distance, I've always gotten them checked out beforehand,

then gone to hand deliver the check and close the deal.

I arranged shipping over the phone and was basically there to sign the paperwork.

I flew out and had the car shipped back.

But never totally bought one without actually laying eyes on it before the money was exchanged.

I did do a paypal transaction once I'd seen the car, while at the owner's house on my laptop.

I guess I can't help you.

a buddy of mine sold his 356 porsche to a guy in Colorado who just sent his mechanic out to pay for and drive the car back.

you can do it, but I'd just feel better about actually seeing what I'm buying, since it's used.

I don't know how you'd handle this transaction without going out.

Ask a dealer or a bank?

what H8R said.

I've bought few cars on ebay and then took a one way plane ticket and picked them up, but I def recommend having it checked out in person and then worry about transport.

I had the owner take my M Coupe to a dealership for it to be inspected, had them call me directly with the results. Once it showed as clean, we agreed on a date where I'd fly in. Once in, he signed the title over at a notary and I drive back to Cincinnati from Philadelphia, where I registered it and got my official title.

Assuming it's not too far away (cross country), it's really not a big deal.

it will definitely be less of a hassle to ship it, if you can't drive it back yourself
