Businesses that do this in almost all cases are having financial problems. The easy choice is just not to do business with them. Depending on who has the leverage in the relationship there is also the option of simply telling them hey Net 90 is great and all but our terms are Net 30 so you can either pay on our terms or take your business elsewhere. If they have the leverage and you need their business well then I guess its more like 90 days is better than nothing. 1/14/2013 9:01:16 AM

^^I don't think that's true anymore, I'm starting to see this with some large, very stable companies. A lot of times they will offset the problem by running things through one of their suppliers who is financed with them so they can over Net 30 to the vendor/contractor, but that's not always true.
I do 60 day generally because I have to pass those terms through, so people coming to me with Net-30 all or nothing terms can't do business with me or the much much-larger-than-me clients I am representing unless they accept our terms, they usually do (If its a small contract I'll finance it and not worry about it). The best offer I can give them is to double up billing so in effect its like they are getting 45 days.

Our terms are net on receipt on our invoices at least. Granted we dont bother most people until at least 60 if not 90 days but after that we lose patience real quick. 1/14/2013 9:43:42 AM
