The perfect Grammy frankenwoman would have Carrie Underwood's legs, Katy Perry's tits, and Justin Timberlake's face and hair.

The Grammys always make me feel really old, because I know about 2% of the performers these days.

Not even Carrie Underwood can help Sam Hunt sound decent. Of course they pick him to be one of the country singers at the Grammys. I really liked The Weekend, seems like that kid can really sing, but he reminded me a lot of Michael Jackson.

Had to put my daughter to bed so I stopped watching after Stapleton won, which was well deserved btw.

Oh, I'm sure he'd do great, if he were making an R&B album.

You can say that about Underwood too. Get rid of the twang, 90% of country music today can be R&B. Dustin Lynch, Chris Young, Kelsie Ballerini, etc.

I'm still waiting on you to mention a country artist.

Was wanting to hold out for Adele but oh well, I'll catch it on youtube.

Why would u say "but" like sounding like MJ would be a negative?

You read too much into things Synapse. The "but" was just a "but." MJ was a fine artist.

And no, I'm not country. I was neither born on a farm nor have farmers in my family, but I do enjoy country music, and I hate what it has become in the last 5 years or so. But I also realize that the stuff I grew up with, from the late 80's into the 90's, is just as corny as the new stuff is.

I think the conjunction you're looking for here is AND and not BUT.

But to say "in the last 5 years" is missing how country has really progressed. Every decade hates the next decade when it comes to country music, that's about how long these phases/evolutions last.

80's country hated 90's country. Garth was "too pop" and wasn't "country enough".
90's country hated 2000's country. Kenny Chesney was "too pop" and wasn't "country enough".
2000's country hates 2010's country. Bro-country is "too pop" and isn't "country enough".

Hell I'd say this type of decade-transition really started with the whole Outlaw Country movement with Waylon, Merle, etc. They were tired of being told what music to make by the record labels and started just making the music the wanted. Eventually that got over-done a bit and younger artists weren't feeling that vibe and it transitioned again.

And I wasn't talking down on liking country music, big fan myself, just find it funny when people starting trashing on new country and then praise names like Cash and Jennings, when this is basically the same type of movement we're going through now. You can already see the transitioning away from bro-country with more people supporting artists like Chris Stapleton and Sturgill Simpson. Just don't be shocked if some people hate the next transition Country music takes.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bro-country

Quote :
"Bro-country is a subgenre of mainstream country music originating in the second decade of the 21st century. It is a general term for styles of country music taking influence from 21st-century hip hop, hard rock and electronic music.[1] Many "bro-country" songs are about attractive young women, the consumption of alcohol, partying, and pickup trucks.[2][3]"

^ GTFO

Kendrick should've been given all of the awards and the show should've been cancelled and replaced with a Kendrick documentary & concert film.

I like the album, but I also don't know that I'd want a 3-hour show of Kendrick just yelling/rapping at me over a 3-hour jam session with The Weekend.

I definitely know which one would be more chill.

tracks by the weeknd are the ones you play on repeat over a summer vacation and then forget about by the end of the year.

^^^ that's not even his best song that's played on the radio on this past album. Agreed on Kendrick though, he's great. I do think The Weeknd has a good voice and is also a talent and will be around the industry for a while.

^^ there actually is a story behind his name. He wanted it to be the weekend (story behind that) but there was a band that already had that trademarked, so he took out the E. Not that, that makes it any better but at least there's a reason for it and not just him trying to do something different.
