only if they self impose a NCAA ban. It won't move fast enough otherwise. But i think they have already sat players last year and this year?
so unless there was new info about active players they probably won't be anything like forfeiting games this year.2/20/2013 11:25:13 AM |

It's interesting, the whole NCAA cartel is about to face some huge challenges.
Their bullshit and hypocrisy is really starting to get some national attention. Jay Bilas is lighting the NCAA up with regularity, the Paterno family is trying their damnedest to make the PSU investigation look like shit, the UNC debacle, the NCAA having to fire the guy running the Miami investigation and then issuing a LOIC charge, and last but not least the O'Bannon lawsuit moving through the court system. It's all coming to a head. I don't think it's going to be too much longer before some major changes come to their enforcement system.
I can't wait to see what happens when the O'bannon lawsuit wins.
I also hope Miami takes the NCAA to court. 2/20/2013 11:55:28 AM |

A self-imposed 2 year post-season ban including last season's ACC Championship game plus forfeited scholarships and 30 practices isn't 'skating'. They should absolutely 'skate' from here on.2/20/2013 2:01:52 PM |

Seems like a LoIC to me.
If UConn got slapped with it I see no reason Miami shouldn't either.
So should UNC fwiw. 2/20/2013 2:03:34 PM |

Oh I'm sorry
I didn't realize UConn levied unprecedented sanctions on itself for two years while the NCAA did shit like this
Quote : | " "The NCAA enforcement staff acknowledged to the University that if Nevin Shapiro, a convicted con man, said something more than once, it considered the allegation 'corroborated' -- an argument which is both ludicrous and counter to legal practice."" |
Quote : | "Documents released Monday by the NCAA showed that Shapiro's attorney, Maria Elena Perez, offered to assist investigators working the Miami case by using subpoena power to depose witnesses under the guise of a bankruptcy case. NCAA enforcement officials accepted her offer, even feeding her questions to ask for at least one of the depositions, and records show they paid at least $19,000 for her work -- though she billed them for three times that much." |

no idea how anybody following this case even somewhat casually could think that the NCAA is in the right here
high ranking officials have been fired over the bungling of the investigation and they still have the balls to charge them with LoIC???
I realize that this isn't a court case, but could you imagine this happening in any kind of legitimate case? it'd be thrown out immediately.

I think its funny that the NCAA said that they would remove the evidence it illegally found from the investigation. how do you just forget potentially damning info? 2/20/2013 2:44:36 PM |

Wow. That's mind boggling.
Quote : | " Revised bylaw 11.1.2.1, effective Aug. 1, makes head coaches responsible for violations committed by their staffs. Doesn’t matter if the coach didn’t know. Ignorance isn’t an excuse. If a violation occurred, the coach is “presumed responsible.” Suspensions, up to a full season, can follow.
That, of course, ratchets up the hilarity to the NCAA’s self-investigation noting Emmert wasn’t apprised of Shapiro’s attorney’s involvement until 2012 and his “conduct is therefore not subject to judgement.” Nothing to see here. Emmert didn’t know, so he didn’t do anything wrong. Never mind the executives, his subordinates, running around the NCAA’s Indianapolis headquarters with knowledge of the scheme to use the attorney. Ignorance isn’t an excuse for coaches, but it is for the president." |
