Is there any protocol for finishing a degree after you sign a contract? If I am about to sign a contract is it within reason to expect the pay raise that will come with the added degree I will be getting a few months down the road?

I don't think it would come off greedy. If the position you are taking pays more for those with a degree, then you are justified for asking the question. The worst they can say is no.

Do you know for a fact that the position pays more if you have a degree? I was hired at a company under the stipulation that I finish my degree within 6 months. Getting the degree didn't mean more money in that situation, but had I not gotten it they would have probably let me go.
