I for one don't remember getting bullshit tests like that since high school, I mean sure some of them were hard but the material tested was deffo core material.

One of my professors told me he always puts at least one or two questions on each test that he doesn't think anyone can answer.

When asked why, he said that he is always surprised that a few people end up answering them correctly. He then knows the people who really understand the material and can apply the principles on problems they haven't seen before and are therefore deserving of the A pluses and such.

I'm not saying that's the best way but he saw it as a way to separate the people who understand the concepts and can apply them from the people who can just answer problems similar to what was previously assigned.

i had a professor that told us she put a few hard questions on the tests because she didn't want anyone to get everything right. she viewed the test as another learning opportunity and if you didn't get anything wrong, then you wouldn't learn anything when you got the test back. i still got a few 100s.
