i'd guess gourmet factory too
did they ever give up on trying to make a fancy restaurant attached to an auto garage and settle for a more casual atmosphere, or did they keep trying? i only ever went not long after opening, and the staff was all dressed nicely and they tried to make it fancy. 3/1/2013 3:52:08 PM

dunno. i go there like once a year or so, don't remember anything being fancy...especially including the paper tablecloths and crayons. servers were wearing all black...dunno if that's fancy.
for some reason I've always thought that place was a front for something. perhaps that's because there wasn't ever many people in there and they would often screw up my order. if not, they must do a lot of delivery and catering. 3/1/2013 3:58:08 PM

ncemt_03 always said the food was good but I never tried it.
Too many better priced options to choose from and in those days I was more concerned with quantity over quality. 3/1/2013 4:03:24 PM

^^ It's not bad.
I would always get subs. Toasted, good bread, light on the ingredients, but cheap.
Always took for fucking ever for the food to come out...like every time. Year after year. That's why I stopped going.

I do not think I would be good at running a bar.
I would get drunk and give all the beer away. 3/1/2013 5:32:09 PM

^^Oakwood Cafe is one of the few places it seems I haven't been. Worth it before they shut down?
(well I guess being sold doesn't mean it's necessarily getting shut down).

Oakwood is awesome, but it's basically my definition of a hole in the wall. Tiny, cramped as shit inside, horrible parking, crazy hours, horrible service, but delicious food. The food alone is worth the hassle. If it's really true that they're selling, then I'm guessing it's because of the fact that they opened a new restaurant at a different location recently. If it's going to be the same women serving at the new place, then the service will still be horrible, but maybe the hours and parking will be better.

The ladies are hit and miss as far as service goes. We'll walk in and half the time they won't even make eye contact, much less offer us a table. And from personal experience I know that if we just come in and sit down at an empty table they won't even notice we're there. On more than one occasion I've had to get up and go to the register to just ask for things like silverware or refills. I work about 3 blocks away, and I go there at least a few times a month during lunch and dinner time. 3/3/2013 11:15:44 AM
