I may be remembering incorrectly, but I think it's because KFC is owned by Pepsi, and Pepsi was the first soft drift company to break in like a decade earlier.

(When I got a plate from a KFC in Xian, China, the chicken was so tiny I thought it was like when you order hot wings. It was insane.)

In china the KFC I went to definitely was able to go for quality over quantity on their chicken.

Chinese KFC is pretty dank.

They have a morning, lunch, dinner and late night menu all with different items on it.

What I find more impressive is Chinese Pizza Hut. It's actually a nice restaurant with real servers (not an angry black woman behind the counter who takes your order and slams your pizza down while expecting a decent tip). Their pizza is kind of meh though (better than US Pizza Hut, even though their crust is pre-made and they don't really have custom pizzas you can order, just "specialties").

I ate KFC in China. It was like heaven after a month and a half of eating nothing but traditional (read: not on any menu you've ever seen in the US) Chinese food. Tasted the same. Got two drums, a breast, and some potato wedges.

McDonalds was a little different. They put a spicy shrimp sauce (like at sushi restaurants) on the burgers, which was still good. They don't use as much salt on fries, and the ketchup is really sweet.

I was also at a bar in Beijing and after I ate some Korean food I immediately had to shit, like it wasn't going to wait. Go into the bar bathroom and it's filthy - squatter toilets, cigarettes and used toilet paper all over (kinda the norm) and no toilet paper left. So I ran downstairs to the Pizza Hut (which was as nice as what is in the above pictures) and ran by the hostess saying in Chinese that I was meeting my friends that were there, ran to the bathroom. No Western toilets. Try to use squatter toilet and end up missing badly and shitting all over the floor.

Those are my only Chinese fast food stories.
