They've been awesome every time I've ever seen them. I don't listen to their records very much but I can't think of any bands from raleigh I regularly listen to.

Okay. I can probably name 50 bands that sound exactly like Colossus and do the exact same thing. That kind of metal isn't really innovative or interesting anymore. Its nothing new. Its nothing different. Its not even that technically challenging.

At least WB can say that they're different. Sure there's other bands like them (I don't really know any but thats not really my expertise) but its not cookie cutter in the least.

My favorite would probably Timelord. Their 2007 demo shits on Colossus. Really any 80s New Wave band was doing this shit years ago. Anvil, Armored Saint, Clovenhoof, Tyrant, Helloween, Doomsword, MANILLA ROAD (AT MDF THIS FUCKING YEAR)

For the record, Whatever Brains have always been good, but the biggest thing to like about them is that they're constantly evolving without their stylistic shifts ever seeming unnatural.

Three years ago they were a very good guitar-heavy four piece. Now they're a great synth-heavy six piece.
