my family has always been a bunch of die-hard state fans

i was born in '86, but my older brother was born on april 4, 1983, a mere number of hours before state won it all. mom was coddling her firstborn son, and dad was watching tv.

i wish i could say i was born on that day. that's some serious NCSU street cred.

My aunt and uncle were seniors at NC State in 1983. So jealous. For my birthday one year they gave me a copy of the Sports Illustrated commemorative issue that came out after.

It was so hard to watch that and not feel like you were a student at State in '83. I was stressed out watching each game even though I knew what was gonna happen.

How we beat Houston, I will never understand. That team was absolutely stacked!
