If GrumpyGOP were here, he'd explain war with NK isn't really about a danger to the US, but a danger to our allies in the region (particularly South Korea).

NK has no hope of really hurting us, but it'd be really bad if they messed with south korea (who in all reality, would most likely who gets nuked if anything hit the fan), or japan or vietnam, or any numerous "friends" we have close by them.

And also the fact NK has one of the largest (or maybe THE largest) build up of ground troops near a border, ready to pounce on SK.

^^ I did not mean that to be literal, its just to say that there is pretty much no chance that NK could mobilize in USA to put up a serious fight against our Military. If N. Korea launches a missile that hits Japan or the US (which are actually the most likely targets), there's already a plan for retaliation. They're not going to tell the public, but they've got one.

No one really thinks they have the capability for a precise attack, but they might be able to deliver some kind of nuclear weapon... to somewhere. It might be intercepted, but the public doesn't appreciate that such missile shields are really like rolling the dice, even for a "dumb" missile.

I'd say there's a 90% chance we'd respond with a non-nuclear attack. The border would light up real good, and possibly dozens of military sites deep in NK would be decimated.

That's a pretty pointless worry at this point. I'd only be worried about a potential war with China over a resource like oil. I think we'll be past the kind of reliance on oil that could drive that before it ever has a chance to happen.
