Things fell apart...

I read it a year or two ago, because I never read it in high school for some reason. It was ok, pretty depressing.

I bought it form 10 cents from Reader's Corner and then realized everyone else hated it, so I never got around to reading it.

This is the only book I enjoyed in high school, as it taught me to be fearful of the white man and his churches.

Out of Africa was at least 3x better

That book was complete shit. It's not the worst thing ever written, but the amount of praise heaped upon it and it's reputation as an "important" book is undeserved.

I, too, hated that book.

In fairness, high schools have been pressured to balance out all the classical European literature with some sub-Saharan African reading, and there isn't much to choose from.
