I'm in the process of buying a house which will make my 2 mile commute to work turn into about 25 miles round trip, because of that, daily driving my 04 Cobra isn't really an option...
I've always like that body style 4runner (96-01) and it falls into the price range i'm looking (4-5 grand), but just wanted to know if anyone knows anything that I need to be on the lookout for??? 3/26/2013 10:06:02 PM |

Great vehicles. Will the gas mileage be that much better than your cobra? I figure it's got to be around 16 mpg city/24 mpg highway. 3/26/2013 11:17:58 PM |

gas mileage isn't really a concern (should have said that in the OP)
much more interested in keeping miles off my cobra. Plus my fiance drives an Accord so being 1st time home owners having an SUV would be nice for all the bullshit home depot trips and such 3/26/2013 11:30:21 PM |

Good decision, only car's I've ever had aside from a short Grand Cherokee stint (POS). Currently have 200k miles on my 06', and never had a repair, just regular maintenance. They are easy to do most of the scheduled maintenance on yourself as well. Bought my wife an 04'. I've had a 93' and a 98' too, and they've all been the same way. I've always gotten around 17-19 mpg in them. 3/27/2013 7:29:16 AM |

^^ Thanks BD, that's exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. I've just started the most precusory search for them so I wanted to hear the gayragers opinion on them in general before I got deep into reading about them myself 3/27/2013 3:58:44 PM |

Had a 97 and own a 2000. Be sure the timing belt/water pump replacement is up to date, they're fairly solid vehicles with the V6 engine. Look under the car at the rear drums for oil drips or stains to check for outer axle seal blowout (common on higher mileage or synthetic use), and stay up to date on all usual fluid flushes (trans, brake, OEM coolant) 3/27/2013 6:45:05 PM |

Driving the cobra 2 miles was worse on the engine than 25 round trip. If gas mileage isn't an issue stick with the terminator.its going to be about a mile or two difference depending on traffic. 3/28/2013 9:23:01 PM |

I had a 97. Man, I beat on an wheeled that thing really hard and it always did great. If I had the cash I'd get another one for sure. 4/4/2013 10:53:00 PM |
