I immediately thought of the courthouse.

It can be good or bad, but it's a hard style to love. One of the better examples is the Boston city hall, which is an enormous brutalist structure that is (as I understand it) almost unilaterally hated by Bostonians. In contrast, there are some that are relatively well liked--the Melvin Municipal Building (city hall) over in Greensboro is well-executed Brutalism on a more human scale.

Architectural trends tend to be loved by some, then fall out of fashion for a few decades before being appreciated again, often by a larger audience.

I have a hard time imagining will brutalism will be embraced.

It's a bit too prickly. This is what happens when you go so far toward function dictating form that you take the human factor completely out of the equation.

In many cases I find these buildings interesting--the Bath Building is a good example of that, and I actually don't mind the Archdale--but rarely do you find one that can legitimately be called attractive.
