Jeopardy.

(it pisses me off whenever there is some special event ABC pre-empts Jeopardy but ALWAYS shows Wheel.)

Wheel consistently gets the highest ratings of all game shows.

Random.

I was at a sports bar a few years back around lunch watching the last World Cup. A middle-aged couple in the booth next to us had the server switch one of the big screens to The Price is Right.

I enjoy watching Jeopardy more, but if I could choose to be on a show it would be Price is Right > Wheel of Fortune > Jeopardy.

Extremely knowledgeable people rarely go home with more than $20k on Jeopardy and there's a decent enough chance you'll end up with $0 and get the consolation prize ($1k for third, $2k for second?). Your competition on a show like that is probably just as smart, if not smarter, than yourself. I don't like those odds.

On Wheel you just have to not be a dumbass and there's a decent chance you'll score $15k + a vacation or two in the initial rounds. The final winner has that chance at $30k, a nice car, or some other extremely desirable prize to add to their winnings. I can deal with that.

The Price is Right seems to leave more to chance, but the huge potential winnings make it worthwhile. If you do make it to the Showcase Showdown there's a decent enough chance you're playing against someone who thinks a V6 Mustang is worth $40k, lol.

Haven't watched Price is Right since the days of staying home sick in middle school. Is the second showcase still always the best of the 2?

yeah the payout for wheel of fortune is a lot better for the "losers"

of course on jeopardy the champion is able to come back and earn more the next day.

if I had to play, I'd take Wheel cause it's easy and even if you "lose" you get to keep all your winnings. Jeopardy screws over 2nd and 3rd place.

but watching tv, give me Trebek all day long

Jeopardy by a mile

Good thing about living in Raleigh is that Jeopardy comes on first. Back in Greenville, its the other way around.

2nd and 3rd get $2k and $1k respectively on Jeopardy (i think)

What they need to do with Jeopardy is replace Alex Trebek with Jeff Foxworthy so that whenever somebody answers a question, instead of giving him/her a quick "correct" or "sorry" response, he can spend a minute dramatizing it up, cut to a commercial, then finally respond with "i'm sorry, I don't know how to tell you this, but your answer WAS CORRECT!"

What makes me mad is in the summer when they cut in to warn people that there's a thunderstorm, usually during Final Jeopardy. Guys, there's a thunderstorm EVERY NIGHT in the summer. Gotta compete with WRAL to make sure your "breaking news" goes on for longer, otherwise people might think WRAL news is better.

Merv Griffin was a genius. He created a one hour block of television that can sell boner pills and laundry detergent to smart people AND those who are barely literate.

That's because you actually have to be somewhat intelligent to enjoy Jeopardy, and pretty much anyone over the age of 12 can enjoy Wheel.

^^^Someone who worked in the television industry once told me that they do that because people watch and it gets better ratings than the normal show.
