I just got a Linksys/Cisco E3200 for the house and I have my external hard drive hooked up to it.

I can get the folder on my desktop for my PC, but can I access those files from my iphone?

If so, how?

There's an app you can load that will let you browse network shares, but I can't remember what it is right now.
I guess that makes this an unhelpful post.

You'll need an app that allows you to access SMB network shares. I forget whether IOS has this ability built-in somehow . . . regular Macs running OS X do.

next question.

Is there a way to access that shared file remotely through the phone, thus making my entire song library available to me anywhere I have service/wifi?

If you setup VPN access to your network, you can sign on from anywhere.

on behalf of Cisco, i am sorry we bought a good home networking company, fucked it up completely, and then sold it off after the epic failure.

Thanks for buying meraki. The world had a clear excess of good SMB office networking solutions.
