In no way shape or form makes up for the sheer stupidity of the legislation attempting to be passed by members of the State's legislation.

Thanks.

I agree that a lot of the legislation being proposed is downright stupid, but just because some is terrible, it doesn't mean it is all that way.

The good does not make up for the bad. It's not even close.

most of "the bad" (aka "the crazy") has died (or will die) in committee

but it seems that you have a problem with people posting and pointing out all the downright stupid bills. why do you have a problem with it. you must agree that a lot of it is downright stupid. why not point out the stupid?

^^ The bill not allowing minors to be treated for drug addictions, stds, abuse, mental issues without parental consent passed committee and that is by far the most damaging piece of legislation I have ever seen in my life.

total repeal of the Jordan Lake rules also passed committee.
and the fact that our representatives are spending the time and money to introduce so many stupid bills in the first place is disgusting.

^^^my problem is that people point out reasonable bills that they might politically disagree with, but label it as crazy to advance their own agenda.

case in point.

The bills being pushed through are not reasonable, they are idiotic. If a representative is wasting his time pushing out trash bills when they could be doing something more productive, that would be great.

Idiocy deserves to be pointed out.

How?

Hell, one of the things required in that bill was a parent had to get a document notarized if they had a minor that wanted/needed to get an abortion. EVEN IF PARENT WAS PRESENT.

Just then they came in sight of thirty or forty windmills that rise from that plain. And no sooner did Don Quixote see them that he said to his squire, "Fortune is guiding our affairs better than we ourselves could have wished. Do you see over yonder, friend Sancho, thirty or forty hulking giants? I intend to do battle with them and slay them. With their spoils we shall begin to be rich for this is a righteous war and the removal of so foul a brood from off the face of the earth is a service God will bless."
"What giants?" asked Sancho Panza.
"Those you see over there," replied his master, "with their long arms. Some of them have arms well nigh two leagues in length."
"Take care, sir," cried Sancho. "Those over there are not giants but windmills. Those things that seem to be their arms are sails which, when they are whirled around by the wind, turn the millstone."

I don't see the problem. Abortions SHOULD be hard to get, since you are killing a person... a little paperwork to kill a person doesn't seem unreasonable.

^^Why should abortions be hard to get?

are we going to pretend like everyone is trying to get an abortion once a month in this thread?

Even if it means getting a third, unneeded party, into the mix that isn't bound by HIPAA?

I am against abortions as a form of birth control, sexual selection, or lifestyle maintenance. In cases of rape, incest, or a direct medical threat to the mother they should remain legal, but rare.

Now do I think that burdening the system with paperwork is the BEST way to reduce abortions? no. But am I outraged by the idea? no.

I love how legislators think making abortions hard to get or illegal is going to make people stop getting abortions.

I would think the majority of people are against using abortion as a form of birth control. That's the whole point in contraception, to avoid pregnancy altogether.

Oh wait most anti-abortion people don't want women to have contraceptives either.

In which guess, by all means, make a emotionally traumatized person go get note from a notary, right?

forget about the abortions part. the bill also requires a parents permission for the kid to even vist a counsellor or doctor for STDs, depression, etc. Not permission to get medicine, but permission to even visit the doctor/counselor in the first place. Sure, theoretically a parent should know what's going on with their kids, but lots of kids would never tell their parents in the first place (I wouldn't have). And we should all know by now that just because someone is a parent, it doesn't mean they're responsible. Parents can be stupid, crazy, clueless, or completely absent. Surely you see the problem with that bill?

I am also opposed to murder. Does that mean I should just not murder anyone and mind my own damn business?
