Okay, a few years back, some other guy named kdawg(c) was asking advice about a car stereo he was figuring out to install while he was also replacing the carpet in his car. (http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=554228)

Now, this guy (*two thumbs*) is doing some sound deadening in another car, and is seriously thinking about upgrading his stereo/speakers in his 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback.

I liked the stereo I installed in the Accord (Alpine CDA-9884 with the KTP-445 Powerpack, Boston Acoustics S65RC speakers for the front, Kicker KS690 for the rear, and my old 10" subwoofer with amp).

But, all of those items are now discontinued.

Looking at Crutchfield (because it is still awesome), I see similar head units and speakers, but it has been 5 years and I haven't been following the industry to see if the quality of the brands has improved/degraded or if there is a new, better brand on the market.

If anyone has any advice/tips/recommendations, HOLLA.

I just put Memphis M-class speakers and a Memphis amp in my Insight. Little powered Kicker sub, too (I don't normally care for Kicker, but it was the best that would fit in the spare tire well--I didn't want to lose any interior space, and I wanted a 100% stealth install)

I'm very impressed with the setup for the price.

Picked up the ^^ powered sub above. Then bought the grill and the remote for it (RBC-1).

Just paid the Don from SDSD $1000 to send me the stuff I will need to sound deaden the car.

Hopefully this will all come in in the next few weeks, and hopefully I will have time to install it.

At CarToys, I got a listen at the Focals I purchased....SUPER CLEAR!
