Most of those apply to The South in general. Also chili and cole slaw on a burger is gross.

^^Disagree on both parts. I live in Alabama which is about as deep south as it gets and aside from "Y'all", sweet tea, and snow days, none of that stuff applies. They have no idea what Cook-Out, Bojangles, or Cheerwine is. Although when a Bojangles DID open up, I introduced my friends to it and they pretty much gave up on that "Popeye's" shit.

Also, chili and cole slaw is delicious. Cook-Out style burger ftw.

only ones i disagree with

christmas town USA--- I was born and lived all but the last 10 months of my life in NC, and I had never heard of it until this list.

the moonshine one is probably a bit specific to western NC. I think we all know someone who keeps some moonshine on hand, but i'm being nitpicky here.

Some of this is mountain specific.

But I liked it.

^^^

NC moonshiners have a distinct and storied history that's unique to North Carolina. NASCAR spawned off of moonshine runners who'd soup up their cars to outrun cops-- there are still big names currently in NASCAR that were either directly involved in moonshine running, or descendents.

The Dukes of Hazzard cemented the pop culture connection.

I'm not from NC, but have lived here for a big portion of my life, and I don't identify with most of that list.

I, too, had no clue about that Christmas thing...and chili & slaw on a burger looks absolutely disgusting

McAdenville aka Christmas Town is mainly for those in Gaston County. I live less than 2 miles from McAdenville and you had to stay away from the area at night during December.

To add to the BBQ map. To me there's Eastern BBQ, Lexington style, and then Western BBQ. Lexington BBQ is a mixture of eastern and western.

Florida drivers typically do not know how to handle mountain driving or any driving with an elevation change. In the mountains that definitely applies, but everywhere else it's South Carolina license plates for me.

That explains it. I'm more discriminate against people that camp the left lane driving at or below the speed limit, regardless of which state they are from.

^^^^,^^^ That absolutely applies for western NC. My gf is from the Hayesville area (before you get to Murphy) and everytime we go visit her family up that way she is always cussing up a storm when she comes up on someone with a FL license plate going ever so slowly around the curves. They like to call them "halfbacks", meaning they originally came from up north, moved to FL, then decided to move to the closest mountains. Having a big lake up that way (Lake Chatuge) also brings them in.

^ Exactly. My dad is from Hendersonville, so I've had many bad thoughts about Florida drivers from our trips to the mountains.

I generally don't like seeing any out of state tags because they invariably drive like idiots because they're in an unfamiliar place, with slightly different conventions for road markings and such.

That said, Florida, NY, OH, and NJ tags are the worst for me.

It seems like every time I see a SC license plate they are fucking up in some way too. Pulling out in front of you when there's nobody behind you for a mile and then driving 6 miles below the speed limit, not signalling to change lanes, clogging up the left lane, etc. Not that there's any shortage of Proper Carolinians doing this, but SC drivers really do seem to have a talent for fucking things up.

I was in western NC/TN last week and the Floridians were definitely a problem, but there were enough TN/NC plates fucking up traffic that I don't think it would net any difference if you could get rid of the FL folks. You might make it an extra mile down the mountain before you run into the back of some dick with NC/TN plates holding up traffic by riding their brakes and refusing to use the slow vehicle turnout.

The whole McAdenville Christmas Town USA thing is funny, which may be what this list is trying to say. For the record, the Christmas lights at Tanglewood in Clemmons are better.

How can a suburb of Charlotte be "Christmas Town USA", when the Western NC mountains are the 2nd largest Christmas Tree producers in the country?
