Just ate there, had a cool waitress, a great beer, and an awesome meal.

Triple Porker Wiener-Bacon wrapped Zeigler wiener, deep fried and then topped with pulled pork.

Big Eddy's Baltic Porter, I had two. As she brought me the beer she said "PROMO! You can keep the glass!"

Girlfriend had a Portabella Burger that she says was the best she's ever had.

The point is that it was part of a chain and now apparently it's not, but they kept the logo and the menu typeface and whatnot from the chain.

I had my first job there as a kid. One of the most fun places I've ever worked. I lived on a diet of pickle chips and the Manhattan burger for like 4 years.

Yeah cuz when I'm craving burgers, deep fried vegetables and beer the first place i wanna go is Gonza's Tacos.

Yuffie, your parents in Vestavia? I grew up (highschool) in that neighborhood, hence the job at Sawmill, I could walk there.

Nah, we're off Falls of Neuse near Strickland and 540, but it's still close-ish.

Tap Room/Draft House burgers are pretty good. Not as good as TriBeCa though!

So...anybody remember the Coterie bakery that used to be in the Gonza location way back in the day?

If you do, please speak up. I want to feel connected to someone.

Don't remember the bakery, but I definitely remember the flower shop. I'd buy from them all the time for my gf (now wife). They were great, I'd walk in with $5-$10 and they'd always put something nice together.

didn't realize some fellow TWWers were from North Raleigh. Any of you go to Sanderson?

I grew up in Summerfield/Weathersfield and my parents still live there and I can walk to Pickled Onion, new Hibernian, Pipers, and Village Grill

Rudinos and Sawmill are a short cab away, though. Oh, and Six Forks Pub is definitely a black club now. Went in there with a female friend and were surprised, still had a drink though.

It's been a couple years since I hit up Sawmill but iirc it was a draft house location then, but I'd like to give it a shot if the menu has changed. They've always had great beer specials but I thought the food was meh the times I've been.

I was Sanderson, graduated 02, my wife was the same.

The Sawmill Taproom went in around 2000, right after that giant snowstorm. The location had been famous for killing restaurants before. It was owned by the same guy that owned Harrison's and McGregors, after it went up he opened several more around Wake County, though I think recently the company split for some reason and several places are operating under different companies, though they are all still pretty identical.

Where was Weathersfield?

Sanderson '01 here. It's good to see some life back in that shopping center thanks to Gonza, Sawmill, and Sola (holy shit, their donuts are CRACK).

My office used to be next to the old library off Sawmill, now it is at Sawmill/Creedmoor.

Sawmill has good food and beer for a draft house, and I enjoy going there to sit on the deck during nice weather.

It's the townhouse part of Summerfield I guess is the best way to put it. Weathergreen Dr. (between Ravenscroft and Strickland while going down Falls)

I was Sanderson '05. I worked at Stella Mare for my first job (have some stories about that craziness), used to be called Casadoria before it was bought, but they kept the recipe the same.

I'll have to try Gonza. Is it more like a Chubby's type place or like a regular Mexican restaurant?

Gotcha. During grade school and before I grew up on Weathersfield Ct. in Brennan Station. It's behind the Kroger on Creedmoor and Strickland.

My brother was 05. His name's Jackson.

^^^I don't want to offend anybody by oversimplifying, but it's basically like Dos Taquitos except they feature tacos more prominently.

We still need at least three more of these places.

Came here to post this.

If you want good tacos, go to Flying Burrito in the old Lynnweird spot.

Also, if you ever go to Chubby's on Lake Boone but can't find a seat, switch it up and get some arepas from Guasaca across the street.

Then report back with your thoughts. I wanna know if they're good.

I've eaten at Guasaca a couple of times. It's not awful, but nothing to write home about. I like the little sammitch pockets they use. Though, they are messy as fuck.

Same here.

As far as Sawmill goes, it's a decent neighborhood bar, but the food is kinda bland when considered as a whole. Their fried bar food isn't bad isn't bad, nor are their burgers...but the dinner entrees aren't very good. I don't know if they started doing specials, but that would be a welcome addition. Good place to drink. Find somewhere else to eat.

Has anyone ate at that Japanese place that took over Stella Marie's space?
