That would work if everybody could live and let live, but that's not the case.

Our state passed an amendment to the state constitution last year to be more explicit in our discrimination against them. They are lambasted by certain aspects of the media and a large portion of the general populace on a daily basis. You can expect this from any group that is being explicitly discriminated against and/or vilified as long as our constitution's guarantee of freedom of speech is intact.

The solution is to stop being dicks and let people live their lives how they choose to live without worry. Unfortunately that's a different kind of "freedom" than a large part of our society can accept. Mostly people who say shit like "They hate our freedom!!!" but I digress.
