I have copies on floppy disk, but I don't think you remember how bad Windows 95 was. A torrent is your best bet here.

just out of curiosity, why NOT torrent 98SE? whatever you get from teh intarwebs will likely be better than a "real" copy on disc as it will probably be slipstreamed (fully updated)

I've considered torrenting 98SE. Unfortunately, the internet connection I have is... well... It's on par with 1994 AOL standards...

I just want to build a dedicated rig using the random spare parts I have for older games.

I've tried Dos Box and Virtual Box. Both have stability issues. Virtual Box will run Windows 95/98, but it is not optimized and is rather slow with occasional crashes.

I built a MS DOS 7.22 VM in VMware that I used for the same purpose once upon a time. I still have it if you wanted to run it in VMware Player (free).

I am certain that I still have some copies of both of these at my school. The problem is that I have hundreds of old software CD's in storage and they may not be easy to find. I'm going out today to do some work for summer, and will try to see if I can locate a spindle of them. (I'm a pack rat with old software...)

seriously, roll a VM. don't bother trying to put together hardware for this shit.


I ran a copy of vmware esxi a couple of years back on a server of mine and had zero issue finding any OS images. so much easier than trying to find working parts for some 15-20 year old shitbox.
