This student is trying to do the same and the US is welcoming him with open arms and basically saving his life. My sister-in-law advises him online and while they speak and plan out his future, she can hear bombs overhead. The innocent are dying in Syria and they don't deserve to die just because they are living. This young man wants a greater opportunity at life. He beat out many other students for his full scholarship through his interviews. He is an incredible person.

while I typically don't like the idea of handouts abroad, I feel bad for this guy. I mean, he's leaving Syria probably with the full knowledge that his family and friends are likely to be killed in the war so he can make a better life for himself. Funding him also shows some US compassion and doing things like this can be good because the kid will eventually go back and represent America well.

It's an amazing program run by some wonderful people to help students abroad come to the US for an opportunity at a college education

Sinan is one of their students and they helped him obtain this scholarship by helping him fill out the applications, preparing him for interviews, and being the middle-man between the student and the university.

He should make another account and not have a link but rather a story about himself, or even an AMA about being a refugee in Syria and maybe something alluding to him wanting to come over here as a student, then when people start commenting he can link to a kick start or whatever to get the money. I'd pretty much bet that if it gets popular enough, he won't even have to ask for money - he'll get a PM from somebody that wants to help.

So Paypal disabled his account, but the school took over the account so the student can get the funds. It turns out he did indeed get a full scholarship, but he needs the extra $$ for the following:
