Solid set of headphones.
I changed my ear pads to some David Clark Model 40863G-02 gel pads and the comfort is phenominal. 6/14/2013 7:27:24 PM |

Been thinking about changing my pads out. You have covers on those pads or just straight gel? They pretty easy to change?6/14/2013 8:33:37 PM |

Phenominal may have been an oversell.
The ~$20 for the new gel pads is worth it imo. Comfort is definitely increased around the ears. I can go almost all night (~8 hours) of listening without discomfort. My head would start to get sore after about 4-6 hours with the stock pads. The stock pads were comfortable at first, but I've got a LOT of listening hours on my headphones since I got them a couple months ago... I use them about 30 hours a week, so ~250+ hours on the foam pads. If you don't use the headset for prolonged (2+ hours) sessions, they should be fine. I use them for about 6-8 hours on most nights.
Yeah. It's real easy to take on/off the stock foam. These David Clark gels are a tight fit, but it didn't take me more than a minute to get each side on.

Hiro: Yah most of the people who buy them like them a lot. Frankly, my feelings about the sound quality are mixed. I can't explain in exact technical terms, I like the bass response and the fact that the frequency response is flat. But sometimes I feel they reveal too much detail. The comfort issue is also there but I would have ignored that if I liked the sound quality a lot. I like the sound signature of my Grado SR80s very much but they are unusable in quiet places like office, labs. I thought reasonably priced closed cans would never sound as good as open cans until a few days back I paid a visit to a local Best Buy store and came across the AiAiAi tma-1 DJ headphones. While I couldn't spend over 10 minutes with them and the variety of music I could listen was also limited, but I liked their sound signature and comfort. Planning to get one of these and check them out for a few days 6/14/2013 9:36:13 PM |
