If there's one person I expect to be well versed and respectful of NCAA bylaws in his dealings with college athletes, it's a convicted drug dealing felon.

the thing about the batshit insane OP's point about never doing interviews with the N&O, is that they kind of dont do interviews

i mean how often have they been asked about leaked emails and bogus no-show classes, etc, and instead of giving some type of response to possibly defend the situation, we just read "so-and-so was unavailable for comment"

He seems to be under the impression that without interviews, Kane will just stop writing.

remember when Carolina fans would make fun of state fans who said the n&o hated state and was out to get us? they'd call state fans delusional for thinking a newspaper would conspire against them...

a lot of it actually does match up and there are a ton of relationships among these professors and fats/bball that it raises suspicion.

Manalishi on there has done some AMAZING work with this and will probably continue...he works during the day so it takes a little time to get everything pieced together.

it was also shown that the Won guy has rental properties and numerous urgent care facilities that he owns. He isnt just making it off of teeth and OMFD

^ This will be hilarious. The guy in the article is the same guy Pack Pride nailed down a couple days ago - Fats. In the article he states that he doesn't know any UNC players, and doesn't even like the team. Pack Pride people have screenshots of his tweets at UNC players, along with pics.

The good man says he does not even know the Carolina team players, and that he rented the car for Miykael Faulcon, PJ's friend, an ECSU player?

That's all the NCAA needs as clarification. Nothing to see here. But they're gonna be mad that Faulcon got an impermissible benefit. Look out Elizabeth state University. you're gonna get hammered by the NCAA. Hahahahahahha!

Of course he doesn't know anything. Hell, he doesn't even know THEM. Just ask him!! Don't look at any of the pictures of him hanging out with them. Or him admitting that he "sold" one of them a phone.

yep. the gun will be pinned on someone else, the weed charge will be reduced, the driving without a license charge will be dropped. Roy will make sure PJ stays on the team, because they'd be absolutely horrendous without him.

if, say, Desmond Hubert had been caught up in this, he would have been dismissed a month ago.

This will set the standard for what college athletes can get away with. OJ set the NFL standard. PJ set the college standard.

(old news from 5:30 today: http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/03/we-now-know-who-rented-the-car-driven-by-unc-guard-p-j-hairston/)

We now know who rented the car driven by UNC guard P.J. Hairston

Raphielle Johnson
Jul 3, 2013, 5:38 PM EDT

One of the biggest questions that had yet to be answered regarding the legal case involving North Carolina guard P.J. Hairston was who rented the GMC Yukon the junior was driving when pulled over by Durham Police on June 5.

That question was answered Wednesday, as 39-year old Haydn Thomas was the one who rented the car according to a report from USA Today. In the story Thomas claims to have no connection to Hairston and that he allowed one of the passengers in the car, Miykael Faulcon, to borrow the vehicle.

I don’t know P.J. Hairston,” Thomas told USA TODAY Sports. “I know Miykael, his friend. I don’t know anyone at Carolina. I don’t even like the Carolina team. Look at the age disparity between me and those boys. I could be their father.

Faulcon, a native of Durham, was a member of the Elizabeth City State basketball program last season. According to Thomas, he and Faulcon met each other while partying at various clubs. That’s interesting given the age disparity and the fact that Thomas himself noted it in the story.

There are records of tweets being exchanged between Thomas and former North Carolina players, and he admitted to ABC 11 that he’s partied with Tar Heel players in the past.

Thomas does admit partying with former UNC athletes, but never giving any “inappropriate benefits”. Thomas said he is not a UNC season ticketholder, in fact he admits he’s not even a Carolina fan.

In regards to the social media aspect of this story, Thomas told Eric Prisbell of USA Today that the reason why Hairston follows him on Twitter is that he promotes parties. According to Thomas, neither the NCAA nor North Carolina have attempted to discuss the situation with him.

Thomas does have a criminal record, but with his most recent offense coming in 2006 it’s difficult to see that having a major impact on the case involving Hairston and the two other men arrested on June 5. The discovery of who rented the car is the latest twist in a story that at first looked to be a straightforward one.

In the weeks after Hairston’s arrest we’ve learned of a possible connection to an agent and now the fact that the car was rented by a man who didn’t even intend for Hairston to drive the vehicle. What’s next?

North Carolina has yet to comment on Hairston’s status, preferring to allow the legal process to run its course.

Raphielle can be followed on Twitter at @raphiellej."
