$275 to tow a 3000lb car from West Raleigh 170 miles to Lake Norman. 2.75 hr drive one way. $275 includes gas there, back, and the pays the driver decently.

Any takers?

Does it run at all? Enough to get up on a trailer? I have a buddy with a nice trailer he uses to tow his bronco around to different 4x4 parks. I sent him a text about this.

Not a bad deal. Figure ~$100 in gas and 6 hours of your time.

Car doesn't have a complete motor.

yeah... That's a problem... haha.

Guy who can't make it to raleigh might be able to come this weekend. If that's the case, this thread is null/void. But please do look into it. If he doesn't come, then this will be my backup plan.

if it's not urgent

AAA Premier membership is like $150

you get one 200-mile tow along with a couple 100-mile tows per year. In my experience, the tow truck drivers don't really care what's wrong with the car; they get their $ either way

A tow dolly will run you around $45 at Uhaul, and you should have no problem pushing your car up onto it with a little help. I rented one when I blew the engine in my Tribute when they wanted to charge me $200 to tow it 15 miles to my mechanic.

For $10 more you can get a full trailer, but you'll probably have a harder time getting car up onto it.

If you rent the dolly, I'll tow it for you for $250.

As a follow-up. Would you be following in a separate vehicle or would you expect to ride along in the towing vehicle? What route are you planning to take to Lake Norman? I'd be driving about an hour to Raleigh, so I could probably reduce my offer if I don't have to bring you back home or if you take a route that passes close to my house. Just PM me if you are interested and we can discuss details.

I'm only 100 miles from Lake Norman, so we can probably work something out that would be cheaper for both of us.
