Now I gotta try it.

My buddy who works for Miller sells it. If you are going for an apple ale.......Angry Orchard is the better tasting one in my opinion. Plus it's gluten free. If that matters to y'all.

^ I was just about to post that exact same thing about AO...

I love Redds. It's a solid second place cider. But Angry Orchard is my goto drink. It's the best, IMO.

Both apple ciders are top knotch. Milestones ahead of Hornsby's, Harpoon, various Woodchuck... etc.

Now... If you want something just as good with more kick, try this:

Hana Fuji Apple Sake. Drink it cold. It's fucking delicious. The world market will import it for you. My mom ordered a case of this sake. After one sip, I was hooked. Hence my hard cider exploration. Angry Orchard is like a less alcohol version of Hana Fuji Apple Sake.

I believe I've seen this Sake available at Tori, the noodle/bento shop above Kanki in Crabtree Valley Mall.

[Edited on June 28, 2013 at 7:09 AM. Reason : strongbow is an acceptable second choice]

I've had a Red's Apple Ale. It does taste like apple juice. I actually don't mind having ONE if I'm not in the mood for a regular beer, but you cannot drink this stuff repeatedly because it's too sweet and who the hell gets drunk on apple juice?

Drink a Magners. Strongbow is pretty good too. and if you need something on the Craft end go with a Crispin.

for me, i enjoy a good Magners on ice over just about any beer in the summer. it's a good change of pace.

Strongbow for the win! East Village used to keep it on tap several years ago. So good.

For clarity, Redd's is not a cider. It is a fruity beer.

I was on a cider kick until I saw how many calories was in one.

Crispin FTW.

it's a shame that cider isn't considered manly in the US when it is in the rest of the beer drinking world

Why do they ask which drink he wants in the commercials if it's the only one they're ever serving. Doesn't that send the message that if you have no other choices, then we're the perfect choice for you.

Yeah, but Redd's is just no good.

Taste like apple juice, not similar to mind you. It taste like apple juice. You could fool a four year old until that horrible horrible aftertaste comes on.

who cares if it's manly or not. you just need to know which ciders are made for the true enjoyment of a cider and which are made to be "alternative beverages" loaded with filler and sugar.

if it's angry orchard, redd's, woodchuck, or anything by the BMC big 3 i won't touch it. but a Crispin, Magners, Strongbow, or anything i decide to pick up at my local craft beer store..game on.

the first time i ever considered cider seriously was when i had a couple rounds bought for me by a group of football hooligans in Dublin. Bulmers over ice. never had a second thought about ordering it again.
