Btw, CNN, please make sure your newscasters know how to pronounce the names of guests you bring to the newsroom. Would that be too difficult to do a few minutes bedore the show? Rep. Chaka Fattah and Rep. Raul Grijalva were interviewed in the newsroom and the newscaster stumbled on their names twice. I don't know her name, but it is this highly annoying sounding (nasal quasi-male voice) large white woman.

you come to post that those names were misspoken by someone you don't know the name of.

cool whatever. you're right. she should have done her damn job.

But you know better than most here there are subtleties to each cultures language that can confuse a layperson accustomed to even the same language, but from a different region.

Yes I know, but we are not talking about some person on the street mispronouncing names, we are talking about CNN. Every news corporation should have access to a consultant(s) they can call to confirm pronunciations of non-Western and/or foreign names. I am not blaming her, I am blaming CNN.

This reminds me of when Turkey was in the news a couple of weeks back. The Turkish PM's name is Erdogan, but that is a silent g. Some news outlets pronounced correctly, and I was actually shocked. But expectedly, many vocalized the g.

Are you rolling your eyes at Chaka? If so, that is great.

If at me, all I said is that newsreaders should learn to pronounce names correctly, their companies should make sure of it. Is that unreasonable, or bad?
