So after the July update all encrypted emails completely crash Outlook. This is almost half my client emails.

Microsoft is aware of the issue but they simply say:

Quote :
"Notice
Important After this update is installed, Outlook may crash when you try to open an encrypted email message. If you experience this problem, you should uninstall the update.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when that information becomes available."

But then don't tell you how to uninstall it. It doesn't show up in updates or programs because it's the new "Click-to-Run" stuff:

http://support.microsoft.com/gp/office-2013-click-to-run

Any ideas? I've searched the web and can't figure it out....

Seems like a big issue considering Outlook 2013 just doesn't work anymore with a large portion of their incoming emails.

I don't use Office 2013, but it doesn't show up in Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Update\View update history?

Worst case you could uninstall Office and reinstall it. Would be a bit of a pain, but I'd assume all you'd have to really reconfigure were your email server settings

No when you do that it automatically installs the latest version (with the bug). This whole new install process completely gets rid of any sense of updates so you can't uninstall them. Unless I'm completely missing something.

^^Thunderbird really sucks. Office is what the industry uses and it's great for what it's used for. We leverage Onenote, Sharepoint, etc so it's the best option out there. Not to mention 95% of our clients use Office.

^Again I can't figure out how to uninstall the update. I can turn off automatic updates but there's no way to roll back to the latest version. My whole company is using the webmail version until Microsoft fixes this.

They don't show up for you in Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Installed Updates?

Mine all show up.

No there are no Office updates in that location. You're telling me you see Office Update: 15.0.4517.1005 in there? That's the latest July Office 2013 update.

Can you search for this update number in the Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Installed updates screen?

2817468

If not, you should call up Microsoft support ASAP to get this resolved.

^No as I said the new installation process doesn't show any installed updates. I'll either give them a call or wait until they fix it. Just using the webmail version for now.

Yeah, that's what it sounded like, just thought I'd post their official instructions just in case.

Yeah you can only uninstall the update if you installed it manually. If it was updated through the click-to-run updates, there's apparently no rollback available.

System restore doesn't affect application state, so it won't help you at all.

You'd need to login to an msdn account, download the office iso, manually install from it and only update it to the pre-july update.

Yeah, that seems like the best option for the foreseeable future. I'm sure they'll make this a priority and it will be resolved very soon.
