This is for my wife's cousin... I don't think she is particularly tech savvy... Which brand would you pick right now, all else being equal: (these are the three brands her mom has narrowed it down to)

Mac
Lenovo
HP

So, basically her mom narrowed the brand down to "laptop"?

^^That question.

Dunno what all she needs it for but Acer's Chromebook is pretty solid for what it does

thanks... she's going with a lenovo. i don't know what her major is going to be, but i don't think it will be in science/math/etc. Her mom didn't mention any specs or anything. just wanted to know the reputation of the brands. (she wanted a mac, but the extra few hundred dollars didn't make sense for her needs)

I've had great experiences with Lenovo customer support and purchasing. The only issue I've had is that purchases take forever to ship if you custom spec and don't get it off the shelf.

^Yea, Rams Head has a pretty good one too. We're a complete Lenovo shop around here (except for iPads) and I have used the shit out of my old T61p. We have some Twists ordered for a month now that I can't fucking wait to get. CCI sucks balls though and is taking forever to fulfill the order.
