left australia in January after being there for 2 years and starting our APAC office and building it up to run SaaS Operations (and a few other random things) - started 4 years ago when it was still small with about 30 people - we have 1600 globally now - 28 people reporting up to me out of the US / India / UK

in the process of moving due to while we were in australia they moved the office and we can't take the commute anymore (wife works at same company but we met at NCSU) even with carpooling - lease starts in 2 weeks 1.4 miles away from the office at a bigger house than we are at now - rented it out at the same price we are renting our townhouse at (found renters this past weekend)

Math Lecturer at a university for the past 6 years, 1 year at another uni the year before, and 3 years as a MS/HS teacher for 3 years before that (left NCSU in Feb 2003). All in Saudi Arabia.

Currently jobless since end of spring term, i.e., wont be returning to the university in fall.

Love teaching and born to teach, but having just an M.S., bored and tired of teaching the same 4 basic math courses over and over again for the past 14 semesters. Not to mention, tired of the low salaries as a lecturer. And perhaps most importantly, really really sick of Arabs, Arab mentality, Arab religious hypocrisy, disorganized Saudi society, Saudis, Saudi Arabia, institutionalized racism and discrimination esp. with regard to salaries (I would have been paid well over double at my last job if I was one of the preferred nationalities), and the effing hot Saudi weather. I really want to get the f out of here, and I will, latest by May, since my wife and daughter already left permanently at the beginning of July and will be in Italy from September to June where my wife will be training to become a Montessori teacher. She was also sick of teaching in a HS in Saudi for 11 years, esp. teaching Arab kids.

Planning on doing a master's in analytics in the US/UK/EU starting summer/fall 2014, and then working in the US/UK/EU, wherever I get a job and encounter the least visa difficulties.

Married December 2007, have a 4y 5m old daughter.

^ We own a house just inside of Mauldin these days (about 9 miles from downtown). I'm downtown all the time though. One of my best friends owns a townhouse (and a few rental properties) out behind the baseball stadium on Anderson and Arlington. I keep trying to find a good rental property or land to buy to build on near the baseball stadium myself.

That's certainly the way to go. I like our house, but would much rather live downtown. When we bought 4 years ago, we had less money and less desire to fix up an older house. If I was buying today, I would absolutely buy an older house downtown and fix it up because I've made remodeling a bit of a hobby now. Plus I just love the downtown area and wish I was closer.

We're still 20 minutes driveway to parking garage/parking spot downtown which is not bad. I would just rather walk. I do think the area by the baseball stadium will end up being gentrified though. Already turning that way some with all the condos and townhouses popping up over the last few years which is why I have considered buying some land. I think it's just bound to increase a lot over the next 10 years. When I first moved here almost 7 years ago, hardly anyone lived out that way because it was fairly run down, but it keeps getting built up.

I live in Boston w/ my fiancee. We're getting married next Sept.

I'm an Electrical/Mechanisms/Systems Engineer for an integrated optical systems company. Mostly government jobs, DoD, NASA, etc. A lot of airborn and space systems like cameras, sensors, telescopes, etc. I was a lead EE on a hyperspectral imager for UAVs and am now working on a space star-mapping telescope. This job is great because we do it all from bottom level R&D, in-house build and test, and systems/payload integration. So a good mix of design, hands-on, and business.

I'm also going to Robotics Engineering grad school part time at WPI.

It's amazing how things have changed since playing in a band, being drunk too often and routinely failing ECE220 12 years ago.

- Been in Charleston for 8 years now, purchased a house downtown three years ago

- Turned 30 in July.

- Married this past October

- Hopefully not starting the kids thing for a few years...but we'll see. I might get a year out of this marriage before the kid talk gets really serious.

- Starting year three of my solo law practice

- Contemplating re-entering restaurant ownership/operation/management. Its where my passion lies, but don't know if it will fit in with my current life (settled down marriage, future with kids). Law practice is doing okay, but definitely not something I love.

- Only regret is not traveling more. Hope that can change, but it makes it less worse living in one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Really really love my city and I think we take advantage of it on a daily basis.

Since ya asked: at Duke. Spent part of my orientation in the ED and part on the floors. I feel I can work the floor fine, but I don't like the unit politics, chronically ill patients, or narrow scope of the respective patient populations. I like the variety and unpredictability of the ED.

as a non-trad who really fucked around my first go through college US schools were pretty out of the question. going to AUC. My uncle went there as a non-trad, and I have 2 friends who also attended so I'm pretty confident . 20 months in St. Maarten .... could be worse.


in other news : seriously, don't do ER at Big Duke. There's a reason like 6 of their nurses pick up shifts/transfered to Rex. You'll get worked too hard, for too little money because Duke thinks they're doing you a favor by having them on your resume. Even Durham Regional would be a better job lifestyle/sanity wise than Big Duke.
