Sounds like that one episode of CSI: Miami. Man runs from parking lot onto the beach through a party or wedding or something while on fire and into the water and dies. (It's the episode where people were stealing gas from people's cars in the valet by inhaling and siphoning gas out.)

um no not exactly. you die from lack of oxygen which does in fact take at least a minute until you black out and 6 minutes for your brain to actually die from it

Drowning. Atleast in those last few moments you get that euphoric feeling from your brain being deprived of oxygen. Burning would just be extremely painful.

Burning to death how? Drowning to death would be about 45 seconds of pure terror. Imagin a trapped under ice scenario.

Burning to death could go very quickly depending on how it goes down. A large high temperature fire would take you almost instantly. Someone just taking a match to you without significant amount of accelerant involved would just suck.

I guess for me, the answer come down to a question of rates.
