How many on here have had to RMA a Seagate external hard drive before? I have a thunderbolt hard drive that gave out last week and I did the RMA purchase. I just requested the hard drive to be replaced (nothing was wrong with the Thunderbolt part), but Seagate sent the whole product.

Seagate sent the following instructions with it:
Quote :
" For Seagate or Maxtor External Hard Disk Drives:

Please DO send back to Seagate:

- External Drive
- Power Adapter

Please DO NOT send back to Seagate:

- Interface Cables
- Product Literature and Manuals
- Software
- Drive Stand"

Do I need to send back the Thunderbolt adapter in this return? Because if you read their product information it has the following:
Quote :
"Includes Thunderbolt™ cable, adapter, and drive
Compatible with Time Machine® software
Compatible with Thunderbolt™ devices
No external power supply required"

tl/dr - should I send the adapter back too with my RMA because the words conflict on calling it a power adapter?

I just hate their wording, they got me all excited I got another Thunderbolt adapter as they're like 100 bucks on their own. Guess I can still keep the cable though...so at least a few dollars saved there.

fuck that, I wouldn't send back the thunderbolt adapter. The drives all have a USM (Universal Storage Module) connector, which they should have absolutely no need for in repairing and sending you a replacement.

The Thunderbolt connector IS the interface cable. you should keep it.
