Sear the roast, toss it in a crock pot. Throw in veggies and spices of your choosing. Cook forever. Eat. 8/20/2013 12:38:58 PM

^^ I use beef broth instead of water, but that's pretty close
add some onion, carrots, and potatoes and you're good to go. Put your crock pot on low and cook it all damn day

Yeah I was planning on using a crock pot
roast is only 2.7 pounds : /
does that warrant and entire onion soup bag/do you all use onion soup mix?

yes, just dump the whole packet in there. it won't matter.
cook it until it's tender and no more. if you overcook it, it will dry out, even though it's submerged in gravy.

I like doing them in the oven better.
Chuck roast, seared (you can put a light layer of flour on when you sear if you want) Pour in a few cups of water and some red wine and quarter a bunch of onions garlic, salt, pepper. roast 4-5 hours (or more depending on size of the roast) put in carrots and potatoes and mushrooms an hour before you're ready to take it out. 8/20/2013 3:50:41 PM

Substitute turnips for potatoes, and throw in some parsnips along with carrots. Use V8 and beef broth instead of water for your base. 8/20/2013 5:33:13 PM
