is the media just trolling? it has to burn for the cones to pop open and the trees reproduce. is this one just too big? if it is then its only because humans have put out all of the small, natural fires over the years.

lol.
It is natural. And yes the media loves to hype it and look for ways to blame it on humans, without fail. 8/26/2013 12:21:59 PM

the fire isn't the problem, building houses in the way is the problem 8/26/2013 12:23:39 PM

putting out the smaller fires is likely contributing to the size of this fire. The media is reporting this fire because it is one of the largest fires currently burning and is burning one of America's most iconic national parks.
The incredibly dry year (in some cases several years) that parts of California (and the west in general) have experienced is also contributing to the fire situation. 8/26/2013 12:28:41 PM

Imo should be like building a house on the beach. You build it knowing it will be destroyed. That or build it on fire-stilts 8/26/2013 12:29:01 PM

didn't effect me this morning in my office
although when I was in Tahoe last week, I could see the smoke/haze
nobody here in the Bay Area is freaking out. Fires like these occur naturally. it sucks for the people who live close by them, but there's not much more that can be done. artificially preventing forest fires means that overgrowth will happen, making the next blaze even bigger.
