The would-be robber had a long list of previous criminal charges which included armed robbery and other violent crimes, as well as false imprisonment. Sheriff Wayne Ivey stated, “Preliminary evidence in the case demonstrates that the intended victim of the robbery acted in self defense while being robbed by a violent criminal who was armed with a knife. The suspect in this investigation was released from prison in 2009, after serving a reduced sentence for similar violent crimes.” The general manager at the Days Inn in West Melbourne had no comment on the situation.
