Because at a max elevation of under five degrees, good luck seeing it past the treeline.

DH hill library if you are on campus.
Youll see anything up there. Just be on the N or east side. 9/6/2013 10:32:27 PM |

Yeah, your best bet is to go to a tower of some sort, but I don't know how bad light pollution will interfere. Dh hill may not be good enough, since down town Is east of there, and you need to look east. Building heigh and direction should be OK, but there's quite a bit of light.
For a comparison, a fifty foot tree something like 900 feet away will be about 3 degrees 9/6/2013 10:44:29 PM |

Friend had it, but it matches official ones posted from Nasa for other sites. Its what they are using at the sci museum downtown.
A news collection of them is here:http://www.universetoday.com/104515/how-to-see-the-historic-ladee-nightime-moon-shot-on-sept-6/ 9/6/2013 11:06:44 PM |

Aye but raleigh isnt too far from the 10degree line. So its probably closer to about 7 or 8 degrees. 9/6/2013 11:12:40 PM |

Fair enough, I suppose that map is ambiguous... Does the 5 start at the west boundary or the east.

Saw it from first stage to about cutover after third stage. Went dark after that I think for everyone then as they on the TV feed went to a radar display instead of the camera.
It was a lot higher as well than I thought it would be 500 yrds to treeline, at 200 feet tall, I had no issues over the trees.
