I'm going to be so disappointed when this season is over. I feel like with both this and last season they could make entire series around them, at least much more than 8 episodes.

Pretty decent episode, in spite of its high ratio of Vaughn forehead wrinklings.

Watched this last episode again, it seems like they are setting it up for the kids in the blue diamond robbery to be adopted by the corrupt mayor. Probably to cover up the fact that he was behind it somehow.

yeah, I agree that there is going to be something involving those kids, they focused on them a lot during that scene and the picture. I considered they may end up being the mayor's kids too, but i'm not sure. Also sounded like the the police boss is the one that got the girl to take the stuff to the pawn shop, he might be the killer, and the one that shot Colin Ferrell

Definitely thought that as well. A cop that is tall and skinny and she said he was a jefe. Not sure who else it could be and with all the shady shit in that town it would make sense.

Also, in case you are just skipping the intro song (which I did at first because it sucks) it has been changing throughout each episode. Each new episode it starts a little further into the song and finishes later. I still think the song sucks but that is a pretty cool idea.

First thing that popped into my mind when they mentioned two kids survived that shit.

That's at least the second time true detective has ended on a black angels song, too. AND YOU KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL

This season isn't nearly as dark as last season...and its a little bit of a let down.

Too many characters, not enough background exploration...2 main Characters was the better idea.hell maybe 3...but not four big stars.

That's the thing with this show. As soon as it starts to get awesome, it's over. Can't wait for the finale.

Damn, that was a crazy episode. The look on Franks face while he was killing Blake was intense. So glad the finale is 90 minutes.

Nice episode, though I cracked up when Ferrell summerized the plot for us in the hotel room. Cared too little to rewind and figure out what he was explaining. Hopefully the finale can keep up the positive momentum.

^yeah for real I had no idea what he was talking about. I just know somebody is running hoes and the town of Vinci is like a mob front for corporate crime but there are other mobs trying to get their cut...I think?

its going to come down to the identity of the orphans. i'm pretty sure one or both of them are the killers.

i find myself not really interested in the murder part, really just want to see vince vaughn fuck everybody up and get his money. he's going to have quite a showdown.

"But this season of True Detective has had a consistent problem introducing side characters that keep getting name-checked by the main cast without having any real impact on the viewer. Remembering a minor character for an hour of Law & Order is one thing, but keeping track of names like Holloway, Burris, Dixon, Osip, Blake, McCandless, Quesada, Ilinca, and, most egregiously, Stan for an entire season is another."

Also, anyone else think it's bullshit that the Vinci guy knew from which underground access door Paul would come? Talk about a shot in the dark....pun intended.

Well can't say I wasn't disappointed in this season because I am, however it was still a decent watch. The plot seemed too rushed. Honestly they got too lost in some bullshit side stories like Woodrough personal angst and closet homosexuality. The whole deal with Colin's kid was also a bit unnecessary. The first season worked because despite the small side stories the plot was advanced with thrilling detail and order.

That said, Rachel McAdams, Colin Farrel, and Vince Vaughn have been very good. The last two episodes also did a lot to advance the plot. The writers should have focused more on background and exposition than getting lost in so many stories for the 4 characters.

Hope they take the lessons learned from this season and improve next season. Is next season even confirmed?

I really didn't know shit until I read that.

Vince Vaughn has gotten a lot better as the season has progressed. Hope he ends up on top and the finale is a blood bath.

Wow it doesn't get more depressing than that. The writers went all GRRM on the ending.

Pretty anticlimactic that Frank gets killed by the Mexicans and then has the cliché life hallucinations.

Then Valcoro's recording not sending? Brutal.

Yeah that was pretty tough, basically the opposite type of ending of S1. I thought it was damn good though. I am going to have to watch from episode one again, I have a feeling there were a lot of details I overlooked early on.

Yea, us and about 50% of the people that watched the show. Colin Farrell going to see his kid instead of running away with the money is like a metaphor for me with this show. I shouldve quit while i had the chance. Now more hours wasted

That was painful to get through. Someone put it as a "catastrophe of cliches". The story itself, despite being a convoluted mess, was interesting. But my god, some of the worst writing for a show I've ever endured, and I ain't just whistlin dixie.
