Human breast milk popular tipple among Shenzhen rich
http://www.scmp.com/news/china/article/1273980/shenzhen-wealthy-adults-feed-human-breast-milk

Pretty funny article. Especially the part where it says some of the rich instead of procuring supplies when they want them, are keeping wet nurses in their homes for a month at a time, paying them around $2,500

Oh, weird China... the same place where babies have died from contaminated baby formula milk.

Apparently it is being openly advertised like it is no big deal. Some of them drink by suckling

Some of the funny bits:

Quote :
"“Clients can choose to consume breast milk directly through breastfeeding … but they can always drink it from a breast pump if they feel uncomfortable,” the paper quoted Lin as saying. He claimed breast milk was now popular among adults with high incomes and high-pressure jobs and who suffered from poor health.

“Quite a few of our clients hire in-house wet nurses to ensure a supply of fresh breast milk on a daily base,” Lin said in the report, adding “wet nurses rarely raise objections as long as the price is right.""

Quote :
"“Consuming human breast milk is quite popular among my social circle … spending 10,000 to 20,000 yuan hiring a wet nurse is not uncommon at all,” Southern Metropolis Daily also quoted an anonymous client as saying, “although only a few people would suck breast milk directly from a wet nurses’ nipples.”

The anonymous client said he paid 15,000 yuan to a wet nurse and had her live at his home for a month, according to the report."

Yo shoot, you know anybody who has done this?

Hi, what do you do?

I am a full time wet nurse for a young investment banker.

You mean for his children?

No, for him.

My wife is breastfeeding and reads anything she can find about nursing, lactation and breastmilk. She showed me a few articles about studies being done on the effects of breast milk on sick adults. Apparently it's still a young area of research, but a few studies have been done to show it has a positive effect on the treatment and recovery of those with cancer and other major ailments.

Seems like it wouldn't be a huge leap for someone with little understanding of the subject to think breastmilk would be beneficial to healthy adults.

There are several western culture's where this is a trend as well, though I think most of what I've seen is most people use it to make things like ice cream, yogurt or blended drinks.

I stay at home with my kids and gave my oldest son a bottle for about a year and a half, and my youngest is 3 months and gets 2-3 bottles a day. I've had to taste test enough breastmilk over the last 3 years that I have probably had about 1 to 1.5 quarts of it by now.

I'm not going to advocate that anyone that doesn't have a direct reason for drinking it should, but it's not that bad.

It is a known fact that it is good for you, who doesn't know that?

But that doesn't take away the creepiness from the act, especially when done by keeping a wet nurse at your house full time for a month at a time.

I can see the benefit in paying a young woman to whip her tits out for me. Of course I'd be less interested in the nutritional benefits, so I can only assume this is a way for rich old chinese men to suck on some girls boobs without looking like sexual pervs.

If there was really an interest in the milk itself I can't imagine they'd pay to have a wet nurse available 24/7 when they could just have it delivered in bottles and save on the room and board.

Yeah most probably sexual elements as well

Quote :
"Legal experts have warned that the practice may be a form of sexual service. “There is an essential difference between sucking on a breast and drinking from a pump, as the former largely exceeds the necessity of diet,” Guangdong lawyer Mei Chunlai said.

But Shenzhen police told the paper that it would be difficult to prove if the act was a sex crime as it was hard to acquire evidence."

When our population hits a few billion you'll see this become a viable occupation here too.
