Reopens next weekend in Beech Mountain. Seems kinda cool, albeit a bit creepy. http://roadtrippers.kinja.com/next-weekend-this-creepy-abandoned-wizard-of-oz-theme-p-1421632859/@laurendavis

my uncle took me up there a few years ago. very creepy looking. i'm actually going to beech in a few weekends, and i love the wizard of oz, so i'll go check it out and let y'all know how cool or creepy it is.
looks like it's open for this coming weekend and then by appointment only. maybe i'll venture up anyway to see what i can see

I go to the once a year opening every year. Its usually a pretty good time. The park really isint that creepy, but I imagine it could be if you snuck in when it was not open. I really wish the whole thing was as it was when it was actually operating. It is nice that a good chunk of it is still there however instead of being lost forever. 10/7/2013 1:30:43 AM

Beech Mountain in general sucks a big fat dick.
The local government up there is one of the most immature / unprofessional entities that you will ever deal with. 10/7/2013 10:27:33 AM

Off topic, going to Beech this weekend - any neat stuff other than Oz we should check out? I think breakfast or lunch at Fred's on Sat, maybe a hike? Not familiar with any trails though. 10/7/2013 7:39:42 PM

i miss the days when it was a great campground up there. when I was a kid, we used to take our family's VW pop-up camper
i remember the camp vaguely. it closed down when I was really young
