every time the GOP picks a stupid fight that they can't win that is harmful to themselves and the country, I just hope they keeping digging that hole. They don't fucking get it--they're gonna need some more thrashing at the polls to get the idea, and the more they piss everyone off, the sooner and more severe the "fix" will be.

Some think this might be the end for the Tea Party (unlikely) or would cause the Republican Party to remove them (somewhat more likely), if either of those happen it would be positive.

But a shutdown makes it more likely that they don't try the same shit for a debt cieling debate, so that's a positive since that would hurt the market more than a short shutdown

Maybe the GOP is trying to protect the country and small business from the disaster that is Obamacare. Honestly I think they should just let Obamacare go into effect and let it start slowly fucking up private business and then they GOP can say "I told you so".

Also solely blaming the GOP for thus shutdown is stupid. The house republicans fully funded the government in two separate bills without Obamacare. They at least tried to negotiate with the Dems, but the Obama thinks he is a monarch and the Dems are unwilling to even budge on anything related to Obamacare unless it helps their supporters (i.e. exemptions for Congress and delaying the law for large companies).

No that wasn't trolling. Obamacare is a disaster and you guys are so shut off from real life and understanding how the real world works that you cannot understand what the GOP is trying to accomplish.

I'll give you a real example of how Obamacare is impacting real people. My plant works directly with a small business and the guy that owns that business is a close associate of mine. He employs about 15-20 people, pays them solid hourly wages between $15-20/hr and gives them all about 50 hours per week. Thanks to Obamacare, he now has to offer them insurance or pay a fine per employee. In order to offset this cost, he will be firing people or cutting their hours/pay. Most of these employees have insurance through their significant other or don't want health insurance. So in essence due to Obamacare, this small business owner is staring at $40k in fines or screwing his people. Neither of which he should be forced to do in a free society.

The fact that Obama unconstitutionally picked parts of this law to enforce and then gave passes to members of Congress and their staff to not be insured under this program shows you how much of a train wreck it is. Can you at least support the idea that members of Congress and their staff should be forced to be insured under Obamacare?

they already have health insurance, so they aren't violating ACA and wouldn't need to use an exchange. there is no "obamacare health insurance", there is private insurance that meets the same minimum requirements that is available to purchase through an exchange. and you aren't required to use it, you are just required to have insurance from somewhere or pay a penalty (that is based on your income).

Your friend's small business will be able to use the SHOP Marketplace, which makes finding insurance easier than ever for small business owners. Your friend probably also qualifies for a tax credit worth up to 50% of the premiums. And for all of the small businesses that do already offer health insurance, now they aren't getting dicked around and have a fair market, it used to be a nightmare getting insurance as a small business. (and if your friends small business is actually a small business, he doesn't have to do shit under ACA)

2. The employer mandate only pertains to businesses employing over 50 people.

I can say with certainty that most of the large healthcare systems in NC haven't been spending much money for the last year specifically because they are concerned with how Obamacare is going to negatively affect them financially.

No it's not. It's flat unless you make over $100,000 per year.

Unemployed people have to pay the fine. Homeless people technically have to pay it.
