^^You get a slight feeling of some of the aftermath of the first Avengers movie in the Daredevil series, but yea, they don't talk about the massive loss of life either. How many highrises in NYC were destroyed in the first one? How many thousands of people died when two real life highrises were destroyed?

Most of the movie takes place in a foreign country...a country with a really awful native accent.

And yet, we never hear anyone actually speak the native language. Even the twins speak in English to the civilians despite the fact that they all know whatever language they should be speaking. I prefer subtitles to a world where everyone speaks English with awful, incomprehensible accents.

I think it was supposed to be a Serbian accent. Sakova isn't a comic marvel place but it's probably based on either Transia or Latveria, both fictional Balkan nations bordering Serbia.

[Edited on May 5, 2015 at 11:19 PM. Reason : probably Transia because I think the Maximofs spent a lot of time there]

who gives a shit about fictional nameless civilians dying. No one will miss them. How about what the hell is up with this mute Hulk. The Hulk doesn't shut up In the comic books. They make him ape with soft moments. That's not the hulk.

I have a feeling we might see another iteration of the hulk in the next movie, either something like the Gestalt Hulk or maybe Joe Fix-it/Gray hulk.

For a second a misread and thought you said Mephisto. Now I'm wondering if Mephisto will be included in the future.

But speaking of Hulk...is Leader ever going to show up? In the Ed Norton Hulk movie they show the doctor getting a dose of Hulk blood and make clear his obsession, but there hasn't been a peep since then.

And for that matter, what happened to Betty?

I don't think they're treating the two previous Hulk movies as canon. In Ultron when he went berserk, he mentioned the world was finally introduced to the Hulk. Am I wrong?

I saw an interview with the special effects company. They apparently wanted to do grey hulk for the rampage scene but they couldn't get the grey hue right and it kept looking too green, so they just left it green.

2008 hulk is canon, there's a newspaper article about it pinned to the wall behind Ben Urich in Daredevil.

In that movie he destroyed a lot but still mostly was remembered for saving NY from Abomination. He didn't go on a civilian massacre spree like he did in Africa.

the Ed Norton version is still considered a part of this MCU.. Black Widow travels to South America to find Mark Ruffalo's Banner, exactly where Ed Norton's Banner was last seen at the end of TIH. They just do not have any current plans on stand-alone Hulk movies or stories.

Man, can't believe that movie was released in 2008. Seems like forever ago.

I thought Black Widow traveled to India to find Ruffalo's Banner.

And wasn't Norton last seen in the woods of Western Canada at the end of TIH?

I liked it a lot. Would've liked to see it a bit longer to give the film more room to breath and avoid some of the plot holes, but it was still a fun movie.

I'd really like to see a Ruffalo Hulk standalone movie though, thought the Norton one was pretty solid.

Ed Norton Hulk, Iron Man 2, and Thor 1 all supposedly take place during the same week. Thor/IM2 is obvious because Coulson leaves to go to New Mexico, but the Ed Norton campus rampage is seen on a TV screen somewhere in IM2.

Also, the post-credit scene of the 2008 Incredible Hulk had Tony Stark talking to General Ross about recruiting Bruce Banner for the Avengers.

Also also, in one of the recent episodes of Agents of SHIELD, Coulson takes Skye to the same cabin that Banner was in at the end of the Incredible Hulk.

I didn't have my hopes too high for this one and thus was pleasantly surprised. Really enjoyed it. Cheesy, sure, but a lot of fun.

but my one gripe, the Hawkeye farmhouse scenes. That whole part of the script felt like it was ripped straight from the pages of the first TMNT..the only thing missing was the campfire vision quest.

I enjoyed it for what it was. It had pacing and some tonal problems but I was still entertained. I would be very interested to see a Director's Cut of this movie, as I feel some of Joss' voice was lost in the final product.

Yeah as much as I enjoyed this movie it needed to be either shorter with some parts cut out, or longer with those scenes expanded

Those parts are: all dream sequences except iron man's, Thor's dip in the mystic hot tub, and Tony's trip to "THE HEART OF THE INTERNET!!!".

With respect to the civilian casualties.

Its a good thing those people died. Their deaths are used to further future movies.

The movie containing destruction wont address it directly because the movie has to end reasonably.

Batman vs Superman will deal HEAVILY in the aftermath of the destruction in Man of Steel. Its the linch pin in what turns Lex and Batman against superman. This incredibly powerful alien who appears to be a god.

Civil War's basis will probably mention the destruction during the Hulk Iron Man fighting and probably the previous New York Avengers dmg. NATO or someone will probably be pressured to have a body governing hero intervention, which some of the hero's resist and viola, Civil War.

Other than that,

the scale of the destruction is realistic looking at their abilities. One of the reasons I love man vs Steel is the realism of two kryptonians fighting in the middle of Metropolis Yes, Kal should have been smarter and led him away from the populated areas. Batman's the smart one.

Thousands and thousands of people died. Its a good thing to drive the narrative. It gives a real weight to why decisions in these MCU's matter and why the characters and audience should care. Just look at Tony Starks dreams in Ultron. Wonder what hes going to be up to while 'away?'

blergh

The characters that cause these casualties will have to deal with the mental repercussions as well. Guilt, Anxiety attacks, Inability to engage because of potential accidents. etc.

Haven't seen this one yet, I figure I'll wait until the DVD.

^Yeah, I was guessing that the Man of Steel sequel was going to focus on holding Superman accountable for all the destruction from the first movie.

Another thing aside from all the death, damage and destruction in Man of Steel. The first time I watched it I couldn't help but think - the world economy will never recover from this one.

Yeah, yeah, it's a movie.

Thought this was pretty dead-on. Michael J Fox as Spiderman would've been awesome.

Couple of questions.

So did the Scarlett Witch pretty much put this entire movie in motion by purposefully allowing Stark to have the scepter? I'm hoping that maybe in Civil War, we'll see some kind of reprimand for her.

Isn't War Machine woefully behind in terms of technology? Or is Stark giving him upgrades along the way? I mean War Machine is just a copy of mark I right?

And in Natasha's flashback or whatever it was, her trainer, or headmistress, looked a lot like Dottie, from Penny's Shield show, did anybody else get that vibe?

And isn't the MCU getting a little crowded with invincible beings? I mean you've got Hulk, who for all intents and purposes can't die...can't even shoot himself when he's not green. You've got Thor, who can't die, IM can't die while he's in his suit, and now you've got Vision, who is made of vibranium on a molecular level and has a freakin infinity stone in his head, so he can't die.

Thor has no invulnerability and just really strong. He can be taken down.
Tony Stark has nearly died in every single movie while in the Iron Man suit.

As per Scarlet Witch, don't expect them to address allowing Stark to get the scepter. I feel like her character and Quicksilver were not well integrated into the movie, and their entire presence was disjointed. I would go so far as to say they were not in the original movie script and then later tacked on. I suspect Marvel will not want to address this and simply move forward.

To me though, "nearly died in every movie" is practically invincible.

Also, does everyone spell and speak English in Sakova? The police cares spell it "police," and everybody I hear speaks, in most cases, without an accent.

Vision is going to have to die, or become extremely weakened, because Thanos is going to need that stone.
