Not even kidding - shipping would be $335. This mo seems to think I'm going to pay that out of pocket.

Oh also you can just cancel the transaction? How does that work?
I always assumed that would come off as "i didn't want to sell it for that little" and thus they wouldn't let you do it. 10/16/2013 1:19:44 PM

They'll let you cancel. If you do it excessively they may charge you the final value fee, but the first one or two per year are free regardless of the reason. I recently sold a CD player on Craigslist, attempted to cancel the eBay auction I had set up for it, and was told I couldn't cancel because the item had bids and was less than 24 hours or so before the auction ended. I didn't have the item anymore, so I had to go this route. No fees, no hassles.
You want to set up your bidding preferences so that only people in the continental US are allowed to bid if you don't want to ship elsewhere. I want to say there are two settings you need to look at: - Where you ship. You probably already have this set to "continental US only" or something similar. This doesn't prevent people from other regions from winning your auctions. In theory, someone with an eBay account in China can bid on your item, win, and have it shipped to their sister in California. In reality people from other regions will bid on your items and ask/insist you ship to their region after they have already ruined your auction. You can get your final value fees reimbursed by filing a complaint with eBay when this happens, but it's a pain and you still haven't sold your product.
- Who can bid on your item. This is the exclusion that will keep all those fuckers from Puerto Rico, Hawaii, China, etc. from bidding on your auctions.
I had this happen several times when I used to sell a decent amount on eBay. There's just no good reason to allow people from other regions to bid on your goods. It never works out the way it was intended and only causes frustration.

IIRC it's in your seller preferences under account management. You won't automatically see that option when you're setting up your next auction since it's in account management. You might want to change it now so you don't have to try to remember to do it later.

Having lived in Hawaii, it is frustrating when people advertise free shipping (I don't know if you did that or not) and then call/write/email you saying they're going to charge you for shipping to Hawaii.
I had to cancel online orders more than once because people advertised "FREE SHIPPING IN THE US" and then wouldn't do it. The word "Contiguous" is important in that claim.
I totally understand why you're not paying $300 to ship anything that would normally cost 10% of that for any other buyer, I'm just saying I've been on the other end. 10/16/2013 7:39:52 PM

I'm sure it was really disappointing to not have free shipping on your eBay purchases while you were laying out on a luscious sub-tropical beach paradise. 10/17/2013 9:41:45 AM
