No they still do the discount, you just have to preorder. It used to be you could get the discount two weeks after a game came out too, but they got rid of that part. I used the discount this week, it's applied at checkout IIRC.

ok bought a ps4 over the weekend. Picked up the spiderman edition, which i'll call the NC State edition.

Having been out of the gaming loop for a long time is there a few must-do things I need to setup or have with the PS4?

Spiderman came with the system and i picked up Uncharted 4. Those two plus my replay of RDR should hold me over for a long time since my gaming hours are limited these days.

Had PS Now for a few months. It had lag every once in awhile even though I had Verizon FIOS.

Did you get a PS4 Pro? If so and you have a 4k TV, make sure you have it running in 4k with HDR. I had to switch inputs and turn on a few settings before it worked on my TV. Makes a huge difference.
