You can use any ginger beer, though. I have another brand that I'm gonna try. I want to try Bleinheim Hot ginger ale, too (it's plenty dry and certainly plenty gingery). I mean, really, you could use any dark rum, too--but Gosling's Black Seal is trademarked, so you technically can't call it a D&S if you're serving it at a bar made with anything besides Gosling's Rum.

I prefer the taste of clear liquor, specifically vodka and moonshine. I'd rather drink either of those straight compared to clear rum or gin or tequila.

And I'm not opposed to whiskey. Sorry to inform you, but whiskey isn't my "alcoholic drink of choice" as the thread asks

I'm not the biggest whisky fan myself. Generally I prefer sweet to sour, which is why rum is my favorite drink.

Although I definitely make an exception with a good margarita. But for me a margarita is a "pucker your lips" sour while a whisky sour is a "turn your stomach" sour.
