I am writing you today to express my concern over the PE uniform that students are required to wear. As you may or may not know, for all PE classes we are required to wear RED, BLACK, or GREY shorts. I believe that this creates a system of elitism and inequality on our college campus.

By forcing us to make us purchase these shorts, it makes physical education inaccessible to everyone. It is really unfair for the students who do not have the time or money to buy these color shorts or constantly do their laundry. Also, based on the type of shorts you choose to purchase, other students can determine your socio-economic status. Students who cannot afford to end up purchasing fancy shorts end up feelinguncomfortable in their gym classes.

As you may or may not know, the PE department offers the red shorts for free, but no one wears them because then they would be considered poor and unstylish. Thus, no one ends up wearing these shorts and it simply wastes the university's money.

I believe that we could solve this issue by making everyone wear the same red gym shorts, simply not enforcing a dress code for PE shorts, or dissolving the PE department all together.

I believe this is a very important opportunity issue in light of the huge obesity epidemic in this country and the university’s tight budget.

Please consider your clothing choice and the impact that it may have on others, and contact your student body officials about your concern over this issue. This way, they will take the necessary measures to solve this very important issue.

All they have to do is offer the same adidas shorts the athletes use at the gym. they wash shirts for us and apparently wash the "poor" shorts they offer, so why not just offer cadilac shorts to everyone?

I'm wearing a a PE shirt of the 1991 vintage ATM...not sure how I ended up with this mug, but it's all kinds of comfortable, all my old PE shirts are.
